Repression
Let me just explain this video a little bit. I made this video for my Dance and Technology class in New Zealand. I knew that I wanted something a little dark because I wanted to use music from the film Requiem for a Dream. In high school we did a dance to the movie's soundtrack and it was the most intense dance I've done.
It's amazing how music can have such an impact on how a dance or a movie plays out. It definitely sets the tone. The tone I wanted for this short video was about repressing ones thoughts to keep information out of the conscious awareness. This is why I entitled the project "Repression."
There are many parts of this video I love and there are also some I'd love to go back and fix, but overall I was pleased with how this one turned out. It was the second to the last project in the class and I definitely felt like I'd grown throughout the course. It was fun making the video cause I used dancers and nondancers. For this video although dancing is a component I wanted the movements to be very pedestrian and all about people with different disorders etc.
See if you can figure out what disorders each of the people in the film have!
